SOTW V1 Ch16, 17, and 18

Chapter 16 The Return of Assyria- nothing extra. Mac wasn't interested in building a siege tower. 

Chapter 17 Babylon Takes Over Again- tried looking at pictures of the hanging gardens, not really inspirational to painting it...

Chapter 18 Life in Early Crete- finally a chapter where we did a lot of extra stuff. Mac built a maze (she is definitely my get it done with the least work possible gal). And daddy and her built a volcano. We also watched the music video that included a lot of the artwork for that time period and painted a piece of plaster- a big hit! And Mac of course loved the maze computer game.

SOTW V1 Ch13, 14, and 15

And we are back to studying Egypt. Next time I think I will have the kids make their face mask and then do the sarcophagus with this chapter. Didn't do much extra for Chapter 13 besides looking online at some of King Tut's treasures.

Chapter 14 studying the Israelites leaving Egypt- watched Prince of Egypt.

Chapter 15 The Phoenicians. Mac enjoyed writing her name with the Phoenician alphabet and we made the colored glass with her cousin here. We also dyed pasta purple and then left it outside to dry. When we got back to it, it was all gone....

January and February Flew By

January and February have been amazingly beautiful. Unfortunate for the skiiers in our family who are super bummed! Ellie is finally getting the hang of playing with different elements- pouring and filling. 

We were able to do some hiking on the weekends. For a field trip with our co-op, Mac and daddy did Ifly and loved it. Ellie couldn't stop talking about when it was going to be her turn... and she's not even three!

Cheated a little and used the same mailbox for our Valentine's at the Valentine's party. Did our bacon hearts and heart pancakes for Valentine's breakfast... somehow we didn't take pictures this year. 

And the infamous haircut we will always remember. Ellie's hair kept getting stuck under her armpits so we felt it was time for a trim. She loved having her Aunt Nini cut her hair. Then Mac wanted hers cut really short- thankfully her Auntie didn't do it as short as she asked because even so, once it was cut and Mac realized she couldn't do the Elsa flip, she was devastated. Whoops.
