And back to Egypt. Read Ancient Egypt, Rimonah of the Flashing Sword, Temple Cat, Egyptian Gods and Goddesses (Mac was able to read). Made a gold bracelet... Started the long audiobook for Ch 13. Played senet online... little bit frustrating but I think more fun for myself.

December Fun at Home
We had one of the best December's with a ton of family time, having foster friends and Dave's family over and it snowed! Here are some highlights from time at home. I made a new sensory box of Christmas stuff that the kids played with over and over. I was surprised since the October box didn't go over so well.
We made our traditional snowflakes to hang around the house. The kids played airplane in a cardboard box- on their way to Disneyland next year, even though we are driving... Watching tv and playing games.

Ancient Africa turned into a fun family mealtime since my sister was home from Africa with her husband and son. As my sister says, we made an Americanized version of an African meal or something you might get in the hotels in Africa, but definitely not a traditional meal. Mac actually helped with most of it.We made a beef stew with extras like coconut, boiled eggs, pineapple chutney, cucumber, peanuts to sprinkle on, plus as suggested in the book (not by my sister's account of Africa) we made fried plantains.
We tried the one stringed plucker craft out of the tissue box and rubber bands- not a big hit here. And we also made an African type of mask, which was perfect because the Atelier craft was a mask that week!
Read a ton of books and liked them all! Anansi the Spider, Zomo the Rabbit, Rhinos for Lunch and Elephants for Supper, Pot of Wisdom, Anansi and the Magic Stick, Monkey Business, Audiobook Tales from Cultures Far and Near (not liking these so much at this age).

SOTW V1 Ch9 and Ch10
Chapter 9- India. Read one grain of rice, tried making mohenjo daro with clay that fell apart right away. Maybe we'll stick to legos. Made tikki masala for dinner that week. Wasn't ready for her own version of what may have happened to the city.
Chapter 10 Ancient China. Once again loved the food- made honey walnut shrimp! Read Tikki Tikki Tembo, Story about Ping and Master Swordsman. Once again tried making a ming bowl that fell apart with the clay we used. Also made chinese lanterns.
